 total theatre awards 2019

Total Theatre Network is a 31 year old charity and is run voluntarily by Co-Directors Jo Crowley and Becki Haines. All funds generated go directly into projects.

The Total Theatre Network and all its activities are a part of the independent sector - and because we’re operating in this sector, where there is huge financial pressure and many artists and practices remain under-resourced, we always want to be transparent about our costs and how the money we receive is spent.

In June 2019 we anticipated that the 2019 Awards would cost £19,000. This was based on the costs to host the process in previous years, together with accommodation increases due to new tenancy laws in Scotland, as well the overheads we calculated to house a 5 person team in Edinburgh for the month. We were very public about this in generating new support.

At July 2019 - and 2 weeks before the Edinburgh Festival Fringe opens, we’ve secured a lot of the overheads and have updated costs. We have also brought our team down to 4 people to help make the budget work. The Awards budget is currently running at £17,330. £10,130 is overheads for accommodation, per diems and travel for the team. £4,000 goes on the awards process - meeting rooms, catering, awards practicalities; £3,200 is used to fund honorarium fees for people so they don’t work for free. We don’t have a contingency. The Directors continue to work voluntarily.

This year through the generous support of 18 industry partners, 6 of which have come forward as new supporters in the past 3 weeks, and a number of anonymous donations - we have been able to proceed with support to the value of £14,350.

At July 2019 The Network still needs to raise £2,980 to make the Awards project balance and without using our own money.
